paint me
Short, but simple.

I went with my mom to a retreat where we heard a speaker named Grace Markay. She said something incredibly simple but profound.

If you sit for an artist to get your portrait painted, you might say, "Get me from this side," or "Make sure my hair looks good," but in the end, the artist would tell you to be still so he could paint you. You'd have to trust the artist to do his best and paint a true portrait of you.

How many times do we make demands of God, and tell Him, "Not that way — this is what I want," without ever seeing what His picture is or how He's painting us? What if we started every day with the simple prayer, "Paint me," — not as I would have it, but as God wants me to be for today? What kind of people could we be then?
